Peña Santa and Valdeón valley sunset from Jermoso Col

Jermoso Col (Collado Jermoso) it´s famous because its great views at sunset and sunrise. This day of June all people we are in the Collado Jermoso hut or camped in the area had the opportunity to see this marvellous sunset with the Valdeón Valley (Valle de Valdeón) completely cover by clouds, a phenomenon very usual in these mountains. In the picture we can see Peña Santa de Castilla mount (2596m), in the middle-left (the most prominent peak)and some of the other peaks of Western Massif of Picos de Europa range, also know as Cornión. Without a doubt, Peña Santa it´s the most loved mountain in Western Massif and one of the most famous in Picos de Europa. Visible from most of Cordillera Cantábrica summits, it´s an icon of the Northern mountains of Spain. June 2008
