Penstemon

Quite sure this isn't Penstemon davidsonii. The leaves are shaped wrong and the stem leaves are to big as well. I suspect Penstemon fruticosus or possibly Penstemon cardwellii.

Thanks for the bio-beta. after looking at the book with no pictures I think it is P. cardwellii. Gilkey and Dennis say that P. davidsonii is easily confused with P. fruticosus, so that is a likely error too. In short, I still don't know and the books didn't help that much (but they are a comfort). Thanks again for the good eye.
