Why does this peak have no name?Fall 2012
Climbed with Rory from Texas Spring campground. Some of my first experiences with rotten desert rock, and some great lessons were learned. I agree on the comment on the gloves. Whether you call it "Phantom Peak" or "Furnace Creek Spire" it's a fun outing. Bonus sheep horn near the top!

via Funeral Slot CanyonHa, I had no idea someone had made a page for this mountain! It's one of my all time favorite peaks. I hadn't realized anyone else had even bothered to climb it. I have no idea why it doen't have a name and isn't more well known in the park. Today was my 2nd time up there. I also climbed it in February of 2011, during my first stint working at Furnace Creek Ranch. Both times I've climbed it right from the ranch, approaching via Funeral Slot Canyon, which is a beautiful objective in its own right. It took me and a friend about 8 hours this morning to get up and down.
