Route Climbed: Southeast Slopes Date Climbed: July 8, 2001
Duane and I decided to climb Phelps Ridge on Sunday morning before hiking out to the car. It made for a long day but it was well worth it. We were camped in the upper end of Spider Meadow, and even though we climbed the mountain rather lazily with time for photos and a siesta, we were out to the car by 6PM. It was a perfect day, as the photos attest.
"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."
