If you get the email coupons, Sierra's price on the Compressor is only $75 - best I've ever seen.

Yeah, but they want $14 in shipping....

I decided to go pick one up locally from Oregon Mountain Community for $100...

Same price really, and I got my pick of colors...

Nice Jacket!! I am wearing it right now, as a matter of fact...

If you are buying something for warmth you lose 25% from your head. A hood vents your chest warmth up to your head keeping it warm. Thus, you are far warmer losing less heat. Also, a lighter layer will cover a wider range of tempertures due to this affect.

True, a hood doesn't look as "cool," so what, its weight that counts, not how cool you look. If how cool you look counts then don't buy "mountaineering gear" Just go with Cotton and a button down shirt with a tux top. Vanity, bah humbug.

Are you trying to start something here? Mellow out!

Some people use this jacket as an inter mediate layer, so a hood is not applicable. Especially if you are using it as a layer under something else that HAS a hood. Like a shell jacket, Parka, or puffy with hood.

But then again you sound like one of those people who think that they know it all... Rolling Eyes

Dude, this is SP...where we don't let silly little things like facts get in the way of a good argument. Shocked

(Though it's usually more prevalent in PnP...)
