Wow. Is that the trail? I've only been there once, and it was in January, via the Baldy Bowl route.

It's one of the ways up. This is a shot of runners during the annual 8-mile Race to the Top on Labor Day. The route starts at the ski lift parking lot, goes down to the Manker Flat gate and up the service road to the Notch, across Devil's Backbone and then under Mt. Harwood. The photo shows part of the last mile up the face to the summit.

One memorable Baldy Bowl climb--here's me (R) and Taco Del Rio on descent one January day a couple of years ago:

I was thinking about doing Mount Sunflower sometime during a winter storm and getting a photo like that. If I posted it on facebook, I could probably fool 80% of the people.

Nice.

I forgot to respond to this thread, but a couple of weeks ago, on my descent, I ran into the 3rd annual Speedo Mt. Baldy hike. Comments from the guys in pursuit, were, well expected.

There was definitely more excitement than a sheep sighting, I reckon.
Doubt the kids knew that white skin and bikinis are a good recipe for the cancer lab...

Anyone else experience this?

...if the people in that photo are Aetherians, then I'm Sir Edmund Hillary...or Napoleon Bonaparte!

(...btw, the "Marine fighter jets" were actually prop planes. And 5 centavos to the first person to post in this thread a photo of George King's initials; "GK" is supposedly carved somewhere on Baldy's summit boulders. I'm not going back up there...I'm too afraid of the extra-terrestrials and their body-cavity-probes. )

Haha yeah you could! Wear a bunch of down stuff and caption it, "Summit of Chomolhari in nice weather" or something.
