It's time to get serious about planning the Spring Gathering on June 10th. Festivities will surround the Estes Park Brew Fest that runs from noon to 5pm at the Estes Park Brewery.

Since drinking lots of beer is a major objective for the gathering I don't want to plan any super ambitious climbs (i.e. Longs). Possibilities I am considering include (1) Tyndall Glacier, (2) One of the couloirs on Flattop's North Face, and (3) Little Matterhorn. I'm open to other suggestions, and if we have lots of people show up we might want to send out groups on multiple routes (Bear Lake would be the standard trailhead for all these climbs). The two snow climbs should be suitable for beginners (crampons and axe will probably be required) and Little Matterhorn should be a good climb for anybody with a little scrambling experience (though probably not great for an absolute beginner).

With a sufficiently early start all of these climbs should get us up and down by early afternoon for libations at the Brew Fest.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your political bent) attm and Alan won't be able to make this gathering - the first one they've missed since these little gatherings began. Sad

Andy, you can count me in. I've got some plans for climbing but will be back in time for the Brew Fest.

I wish I could come up, but schools kicking my butt right now. I'll be up around those parts in late July.
