Dismal fog holding pattern

The SF Bay area has been in a heavy daily winter inland fog pattern with limited visablility for over 2 weeks with no sun. Most people don't seem to mind. I know people in the northwest experience overcast skies for extended periods. I work outside and hike a lot. I guess I'm a whimp but it's really getting to me! Maybe I need a S.A.D. lamp our something.
Anyone else have anything to say about this?

I definitely don't miss that aspect of the Bay Area. My advice: take a road trip. Is the S/E Bay socked in too (e.g. Diablo or Pinnacles)? Worst case, head way south. We've had some fine weather in SoCal the past few weeks.

The south bay tends to get more sun than the north. Went for a nice mountain bike ride yesterday in the Los Gatos hills and hiked in the Santa Cruz mountains Thursday afternoon under partly-cloudy skies.

I used to live in Oregon -- there is no comparison !

this doesn't really compare but this is day no. 3 that we've been socked in here in Carson Valley (west Nevada) ........... I hear its been sunny in Tahoe.

No fog in Trona, CA. You should move there. Excellent culture too!

Reminds me alot of my childhood (UK & Washington)...but over the years I've become a wimp about stewed pea fog...I LOVE the sun!!!

If you can't stand it, transcend it! So I did just that and took 2 hikes in the hills and Mt. Tam and got high above the fog and used it for some nice pics.

I live on the eastern edge of Livermore and we've had fog from the central valley spilling over the hills and hanging around for a couple of weeks. Cold and windy!

Solution? Head up on the Ohlone Trail. I was up there Sunday wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Sunny, warm, and no wind.

Here's the view from Mission Peak looking east towards Livermore. Was a great day to be out hiking a stretch of the Ohlone Trail.

Sometimes you just need to go a little ways. We went to Castle Rock on Sunday and the skies cleared up there. We left and rejoined the fog on the 17.

When I lived in Santa Barbara, you'd get jammed in under thick marine layer for weeks in the early summer. People mill around town all gloomy when all you gotta do is hike or drive a bit up the hills. Hiking up and emerging on top of the clouds is a special feeling.
