It doesn't merely require fitness. It requires outrageous drive. Obsession, really.

Maybe CA has a greater population of outdoors people?

sounds like a PnP topic to me!

Yes, we do have four seasons here in California - fire, flood, earthquake, and riot

We don't call it rain, its 'liquid sunshine.'

Yes, even in this digital age, its still an agricultural state. Its estimated over 50% of the marijuana consumed in the United States is grown right here in the 'Golden State'.

Yes, it is home to the digital revolution and entertainment media. In fact, there's more online pornography produced here in the Los Angeles area's San Fernando Valley than anywhere else in the world.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go to an environmental ralley. Now where did I put the keys to my full-size SUV?

California . . . . its not a state, its a 'state of mind.' 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Very good, and let's complain about the drought while we irrigate that nice green lawn in the middle of the desert.

California is a great place - why do you think we have the highest percentage of homeless people in the nation? The great weather that makes hiking and climbing easier than in many places attracts the haves and the have-nots alike.

Geez, I love the way this thread suddenly got shelved to the "Old Favorites" forum.

Why must we use the word "Old" on summitpost? Wouldn't "classic" or "retro" be a bit more
politically correct ???

Actually, I love California! I could never get enough of it when I was there.

We have good resources and good weather so we can get out more.

When I lived in Portland and N. Idaho I was trapped inside like a caged animal on many weekends due to shit weather. Almost never happens in LA.

So my question is, in all honesty, are you folks in California faster and more athletically gifted than the rest of us folks?

Apparently, you haven't been to ID/MT/WY.

Key word is haven't been there yet. Only Snowy Range and Sierra Madres in WY so far. I've read Turiano's and Lopez's book cover to cover. Crazy approaches out there too. One of these days...
