(Elves, I posted this in General since it has potential repercussion for the broader climbing community, IMO. Feel free to move to AK/CAN if you disagree.)

They should have arrested her for reckless endangerment (of the air crew) and made her sit in jail until she paid that fine.

It reminds me of a time when my wife and I were hiking in the Canadian Rockies. There were some parents with a teenage daughter on the trail, and the girl did not want to hike. So in protest, she started doing this really high-pitched shrieking. I was hoping the parents would smack her in the mouth, but they kept their composure and continued hiking, ignoring her. When she realized she wasn't getting her way, the girl shut up and started moving.

It's too bad the rangers didn't call this spoiled little brat's bluff in a similar way.

I wonder if the helicopter pilot took a page from the old Far Side cartoon where the pilots warned the passengers of some upcoming turbulence, then started playing with the controls and bouncing the plane all over the place. Or at least find a good route back that goes through some areas known to be prone to air pockets. You know, let's see if we can make her really sick by the time we land.

Wow, what a loser, she should have gone to prison. At least the chopper got someone who really needed to get down off the mountain. I'm glad they didn't make a special trip just for her. But still, I can't believe she even wanted to climb that Mountain. Goes to show how popular the West B. is.

Sounds to me like they should add her name to the no fly list.

My thoughts exactly

+3. Damn, not sure why the rangers gave in. . . Of course, if she just sat there another few days, then she would've likely grown too weak to walk out, and they would've had a "legitimate" rescue on their hands. They probably wanted to be done with her. Too bad they didn't arrest her, as someone mentioned, and let her sit in jail until the fines were paid. Friggin ridiculous, narcissistic princess.

It's rather ironic - if you Google her (assuming there isn't more than one Jadranka Luca-Mrden in Croatia) you'll learn that she is on some state committee to protect children against abuse and neglect.

Yup- should have arrested her on the spot- as soon as she got down. I'm surprised they didn't arrest her on the mountain, tie her to a sled, and drag her ass down. But I guess if she fell in a crevasse on the way it might have complicated matters.

Now others are going to see what she got away with unfortunately.

She makes me nauseous. . .

And, I hope the rangers there come up with a new plan/policy in case someone else trys to pull that kind of shit.

I see you're new here. Getting both sides of the story isn't what we do.
