I would guess that MikeTX has not had the full range of experiences in America's decaying inner cities. I've been to cities in Virginia where I was perfectly comfortable being the only White(ish) person in fast food joint. And I've been in parts of Boston, Albany, Rochester, Buffalo etc. where I was bluntly told that I was not welcome, or I should get out as fast as possible. I'm thinking back to the summer of 1975 in Boston...

Cali is tough to beat! The only thing missing is an ice park that you rap into from the parking lot (with latte in hand of course).

yeah, because there aren't any predominately black neighborhoods in houston.

As stated above, it isn't a matter of race. I've been perfectly safe in some overwhelmingly Black neighborhoods. And in some, I was told to leave. In others, I was simply attacked. And there were predominantly White, very poor neighborhoods where I definitely did not feel comfortable. Idealism is not a perfect shield against reality.

For my first year in grad school, my roommate was Black. That was the year after the race riots in Boston. He took great precautions to stay out of Southie, which was predominantly White. This was not because he was a racist, but because he did not want to die.

Correct! There are bad neighborhoods of all color. It's just a matter of them allowing you to be there or not. If not, you better leave for the sake of your own safety... There are some places in LA where the cops will escort you to the nearest fwy if they think you're in the wrong hood

On a side note, if I were racist, I probably would not have hired a black woman; she's my best employee btw...

Wonder if Arnold will proclaim the love back?

http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite?c=Page&childpagename=GovRitter%2FGOVRLayout&cid=1251570961964&pagename=GOVRWrapper

WHEREAS, Californians love many of the same things Coloradans do, including active lifestyles, outdoor recreation and plenty of sunshine; and
WHEREAS, Colorado is often the next place Californians call home, as California is the top state in the nation for in-migration to Colorado;
Therefore, I, Bill Ritter, Jr., Governor of the State of Colorado, do hereby proclaim February 12, 2010,
COLORADO LOVES CALIFORNIA DAY
in the State of Colorado.
GIVEN under my hand and the Executive Seal of the State of Colorado, this ninth day of February, 2010
Bill Ritter, Jr.
Governor

When I die, they won't be scattering my ashes in Colorado. It will be California.

Throw these people off a peak

Postby Marmaduke » Tue Feb 16, 2010 6:30 am

Instead of giving Colorado Arnold, that's not very nice to Colorado, a great state. Let's take Arnold, Pelosi and Barbara Boxer up to Yosemite and throw them off of Half Dome. Just joking I'm against capital punishment and this isn't a politcal webpage. :)
