Capitol Peak (July 16th-18th)

by Kiefer » Wed Jul 11, 2012 8:06 am

I have a few days off and I want to head back up to Capitol Peak.
However, I'm NOT doing the standard route.
I want to hike in via Snowmass Creek-Pierre Lakes Basin
and climb "Cleaver Ridge".

I'm Planning on taking 3 days for this which, might
include another traverse over to Snowmass...partner(s) dependent.

The only description for "Cleaver" I can find is one from the 1930's from Carl Blaurock
who described it as loose 5th. (probably lower 5th, I'm not sure)...then the traverse to Snowmass Mountain.
Again, partner dependent. We'll be coming back
out via Snowmass Creek. Don't wanna rush it so a bivy ON the Snow/Cap ridge might be necessary.

Anyone possibly be interested in this? :geek:

If I/we can get this done in 2 days, I'd like to use Wednesday (18th) and do the ridge traverse between Cathedral and Conundrum/Castle.

Giving this a "bump" for you, hope you find a partner for this adventure. (Greedy agenda: I want to read the trip report afterward...)

Sarah
