Climbing around Vancouver

by Carbo » Fri Oct 23, 2009 6:03 pm

Hi
I know the season is probably past and the weather most likely isn't great. However, I am going to be in Vancouver next week and wanted to know if there are any easy to reach climbing areas not too far from town (I do have a car).

Also I would be interested in recommendation for day hikes in the area (what can be reached by car in an hour or two).

Thx

Day hikes I enjoyed near the city are Mt. Strachan (weather permitting - class 1-2 but involves a ski area that detracts from it a little), Stawamus Chief (beautiful area - nice summit granite class 1-3) and Lynn Canyon (Class 1). My favorite out of the bunch was the Stawamus hike. I am only a day hiker, but Stawamus also had a lot of rock climbing routes in use.
