It degenerated into a personal abuse contest so I sent it to the thread hospital where I will perform the necessary surgery so that it can continue to lead a useful life.

Sorry if that pisses people off but it seemed a better option than what appeared inevitable if it continued the way it was going.

No idea. They are amazing animals. I'd love to see one in the wild, I'm counting on it. The Fish and Game CA Commissioner who shot the beauty in Idaho appalls me, even if it was legal. Shooting a treed cat! WTF

Actually dadndave, I started a good thread and we had a nice discussion going. It was after someone moved it to off route the second day that the typical off route bickering began and made the thread useless.

If you guys would leave such threads in the General forums, both where such things are not allowed and where they would be diluted by more participants (since folks can see it on the front page), then such things wouldn't happen.

The thread was in good shape while it was in the California forum. Leave threads there and surgery won't be necessary.

You hadn't seen it for two days lcarreau because they moved it to off route. Where all interesting forums on SP go to die because it sucks the participation out of them.

I imagine it got moved because it wasn't climbing related. I didn't move it so I can't comment further on that.

Moving it to OR certainly didn't suck your participation out of it.

If you're logged in it's at the bottom of the forum list. It's where non-climbing related stuff belongs. It's very lightly moderated, in fact hardly moderated at all unless things get stupidly out of hand.
