Cutting a rope without a knife

by Nikolas_A » Sat Oct 09, 2010 9:24 pm

I read about it in Andy Kirkpatrick's blog and wanted to test it for myself. I was really impressed and I made this video to demonstrate. Try it!

It also makes you think about how important it is not to let your ropes rub against each other or against slings.

That is pretty eye-opening. Saying that though you can cut through a drain pipe with a piece of string; s'pose it's all about a bit of friction and heat.

Impressive. I would have thought it possible, but not nearly so quickly.

My boot laces are 2mm dynema. I guess I know what to do if I need to cut some rope and don't have a knife.
