Descent from LPP, SF and East Ridge

Postby Blair » Tue Dec 22, 2009 2:18 am

Hoping to get the information for the southeast slopes, or whatever seems to be the safest easyest way down back down to the valley floor. To be specific, we are climbing the east ridge as far as where the car is. I think its olivias ranch rd or something, my partner knows the name.

I have heard of many bad descent storys on the SF LPP area so I want to be dialed on where to go as much as we can.

Thanks in advance

I was on a trip up that way last January (thanks Lisa!). From memory the route we took from Olivas Ranch Road was along the lines of:

Note that the notch at 2500m (where the track crosses the wilderness boundary) is easy to identify from below but difficult to identify from above; we overshot on the return trip and had to backtrack. The only other difficulty might be the cliffs between 3100m and 3200m --- it might be difficult to spot a descent route from above but one does exist (the line drawn on the map is based on memory so don't follow it too literally).
