i had one, we topped out so late that we didn't need it. there was no one on the mountain that late.

LOL. Honestly, I assumed you had one (especially given the recent events). I was just wondering if the process of getting one was easier than, say, driving to Idylwild to pick one up then returning to the trail head near snow creek.

To answer you question, i think to each is own. to go up the tram, get a permit the day before and then go up snow creek the following day??? if we had that time we wouldn't be able to afford the tram ride up and down then down again ($33.), when would a person work? i am just saying....
