by Dave Daly » Fri Feb 02, 2007 4:34 pm

Today marks the first ascent of Fitz Roy in Patagonia.

For you trivia minded climbers, what was the year and who were the first ascentionists?

Terray & Mangione(sp?) in 195? with the aid of the "sardine can" piton. In a similar vein, modern climbers tend to eat some meals with their nut tools.

London, 1957, 1st edition. 237 pp, 12 plates. Story of the first ascent of this legendary Patagonian peak in 1952 by the two great climbers, Guido Magnone and Lionel Terray

Courtesy of Chessler

So is Chuch Mangione trumpet and composer related to Guido?
