Help me identify this mountain

by 395guy » Thu Oct 21, 2010 9:11 pm

A friend sent me this picture and asked me what mountain this is... but I don't recognize it offhand. I'm not for sure if it's in the US... but if it is, I'm guessing it's probably in the west... probably not in California due to the dense forest... maybe not in Colorado because of the big body of water in the foreground... maybe a peak in the northern rockies? I dunno. Let me know if you recognize it.

Looks like Photoshop Mountain to me -- as such, a perfect candidate for POTW.

I wonder if the bright light on the left side of the photo is a reflection of a camera flash in a window. Maybe the pic was taken from a train.

I don't know where the mountain is, but I think your guess of Northern Rockies is a good one.

+1

or from shooting a pic of a framed pic

You got it! You can see the shadow of the dude's arm in the center of the photo near the bottom. Wasn't made by clouds.

And relative to the arm, the flash is where the camera should be.

Pretty sure it's Mount Burgess, Yoho, BC.

That chalet was probably destroyed by the nuclear blast depicted in the original photo.
