Help!! Suggestion for Backpacking 2 Nights Alpine Lake, WA

by ryanp » Fri Aug 19, 2011 10:38 pm

Hi everyone. I am newish to Seattle area and would like to take my girlfriend backpacking (her first time). I am hoping you can help with some last minute suggestions for a short trip (maybe 10m or less roundtrip) that we can do a little camping. Love the cascades, etc...

What I am hoping on.
- Nothing too difficult
- Lake at or near top to camp
- maybe some day trails for hiking using camp as base
- Did I mention this will be labor day weekend :/ I would prefer a little privacy/seclusion.

Thank you all so much!

The trail to Stuart Lake fits this bill except for the privacy thing. I just got back from there with some friends who were backpacking for the first time and the place was littered with random day hikers with boomboxes hanging from their daypacks and a 16oz bottle of water for their whole day.

If you camp there, you can find some solitude at about 6:30am.

Otherwise, it's about as busy as my subdivision.
