A good thought.

A zillion years ago, I was in the Caves of the Dead in Luzon. Getting lights would've necessitated going several miles back and forth to the village to rent, so we went in only with the occasional flash of my Instamatic Kodak.

So we were sliding along listening to the trickle of water. Fired off one of our precious flashes. Turned out we were sliding along a narrow ledge about 15 meters above a subterranean stream.

Missed my biweekly caving yesterday. Just heard that a member of the group dislocated his shoulder while at one of the deepest points (doing nothing special). He could walk/crawl/climb/wriggle out without needing outside help. Will meet him this evening to hear the details.

SCARY! I was taken aback by the number of caves in the Philippines.

One cave in Samar has a chamber so HUGE that it can accommodate 50 commercial airplanes placed side by side, or three
football fields.

Nice pics.

I've been reading Blind Descent about the race to find the deepest cave. While somewhat sensational in a few spots, it's an interesting read so far especially for those of us unfamiliar with the spelunking world.

Few things, I saw the first post and clicked the link.. I know that lady!! I have spoken to her many times about caving a few years back. Very nice lady who lives and breathes caving.

As for knox cave and Mr and Mrs Knox...

I regret to inform you that Mrs Knox has passed away it appears. I was in the cave two years ago and it appears that she got washed away. Mr knox is still alive but he is injured. Maybe this year I will go in and maybe help them rebuild a relationship. and maybe Mr Knox will heal and find a new Mrs Knox.

They don't sound like cavers to me.
