Info for First Week of June trip to Pirineos

by batesville » Fri Apr 05, 2013 5:08 am

Hey All,
I am heading to Spain for two weeks, first week business, second week pleasure. Was thinking about heading to the Monte Perdido area and try my luck with some of the mountains. Thinking Perdido, Cilindro, etc. Was thinking about basing out of Goriz Refuge for 4 nights, giving 3 full days of climbing. First trip to Spain, let alone the Pirineos. So tons of questions, but not many ideas on where to go for answers... so here we go...

What type of weather should I expect in late May/early June?
Gear requirements? What should I pack, what can I get there (rental, not purchase (i.e. crampons, ice ax,etc )?
Expectations for snow conditions?
Any ideas on better climbs?

Planning to play it "safe," as I will be alone (Class 4 or <)...
Thanks for your time,
Dave

I couldn't sleep more than one night in Goriz when I was in Ordesa NP in July 2009...
