I wore my Gortex pants with fleece layers on summit day. I was also glad to have a down jacket. Most didn’t and many were cold at dawn just above Stella. Not sure what the Pre-Cips are, but I’d say a wind blocking shell with insulating layers is prudent.
For most of the hike I wore hiking pants and packed a fleece jacket & light Marmot shell jacket. Gators were good for the dust more than the mud. They also controlled my pant legs in the choos.
It’s high altitude so even if you aren’t actually on glacier you’ll still want high end glasses with side protection.
