Looking for Good Clean Fun in Colorado

by whiteroom17 » Wed Jun 19, 2013 5:17 pm

I am visiting some Denver friends over July 4th and am looking for some scrambling suggestions:
- I would love to find a fun class 3 scramble on a reasonably tall mountain with a good view (but then again who wouldn't?)
- Two of use have a lot of experience of class 3 terrain in Montana and Wyoming, but we are with two hikers who haven't done much off trail (so something without a ton of exposure would be nice)
- Given our time frame the San Juans are probably too far, but the rest of the state is fair game
- I would like to stay off any really steep snow slopes
- We'd like to spend a few nights camping in the area, so a mountain with some nearby dispersed camping would be ideal

Anybody got any suggestions?

-Nick

Thank you for the suggestions. Any ideas for something further to the west - like the Elks or the Sawatch?
