Mount Aix

by IdahoSummits » Wed May 06, 2015 10:26 pm

I know the snow levels are way less than normal in Washington. I read that Mount Aix is typically climbable mid-May. Given this year's snow levels, I assume it should be good to go now. Thoughts? Or better yet, anyone have current beta?

Thanks for your time!

If by "climbable" you mean "can drive to the trailhead", then yes, it's probably fine. The snotels around there show snow levels well above the TH elevation. But if you mean "can stroll to the summit on a dry trail", then no. There's still plenty of snow up high. I haven't actually been over there this year but I could see out that way on a climb yesterday and all the bigger peaks are still looking almost like normal May conditions.
