Topo's in the "snow mountains of China" series, thirteen by now, can be ordered with some good map dealers abroad. If your one cannot, sent a mail to Kong Baocun, the authorized dealer of Lanzhou institute maps in Xinjiang: kongtour@urumqi.cngb.com, climbing@xj.cninfo.net. At the moment the following maps are available, but more are in preparation:
1; Mount Qoumolangma, mount Everest
2; Mount Qogori, K2
3; Mount Xixabangma, Shisha Pangma
4; Kongur Tagh-Muztagata
5; Kangrinboqe
6; Naimona Nyi, Gurla Mandhata
7; Nojinkangsang
8; Namjagbarwa
9; Kawagarbo
10; Bogda Uia
11; Kunlun Godess
12; Muztag, Ulugh Muztagh
13; Muztagata
Some of these maps are 1;50000 others 1;100000. They are really very high quality. If you sent Kong Baocun message which one you want and in what language, (English or Chinese), he will send you. Charge is 25-30$ + sending costs. Not cheap but worth it.

Neil

It seems Tamutsu Nakamura is a fairly active in the Japanese Alpine Club.

Look at

http://www.jac.or.jp/english/kiroku/Untrodden.pdf

for more stories by him on Western Sichuan.

Neil,

After I emailed you I just realised that in fact the pic of the north side of Haizi is not in 'East ..." but in another book by Tom Nakamura, but as it is all in Japanese I don't know the name. 'East ..." has Haizi from the southwest, near Tagong.

I will scan the pic and email it to you. Sorry for the confusion.

Neil,

Look in this year's American Alpine Journal for many of the peaks that appear in 'East ...'

Also, under the China section later on you will see a report of my trip there last year, with an avo pic.

Does anyone know the objective dangers of climbing yulongxueshan in December?
Are there hidden crevasses, high avalanche danger, yeti, etc?
