Whenever I am trudging up something or really getting something done anywhere the really cool fiddle song from the 'Last of the Mohicans' goes through my head...

I like the French band "Cocoon", and they have a song called Cliffhanger, where they say over and over

I have climbed mountains,
I have lost my toes.
I don't mind.
Now i'm alone.

And every time, I think "good for you, but I would mind".

Their music is pretty good otherwise.

Yonder Mountain String Band: Half Moon Rising.
Climbing a Colorado 14'er on the Great Divide as the moon rises...perfect.

Capitan Capitan!!!

Howdy y'all, this looks like a relatively safe thread for my *first* post!

I'll always remember watching the alpenglow and sunset in the natural amphitheater of the Condoriri mountain range. Everyone in the camp fell silent while listening to King Crimson "The Sheltering Sky". Magic hour indeed!

el Condoriri in the daytime;

My Top 5 (plus honorable mention**) for music that makes a mountaineering mood;
1. Pink Floyd
2. Grateful Dead
3. Pat Metheny
4. King Crimson
5. The Band
** Soggy Bottom Boys
You've gotta be crazy to be sane
