Any one have recent information on snow conditions high in the Bowen/Baker/Parika area of the Never Summer wilderness (40.3742, -105.940). A few of us are planning a warm-up/acclimation hike aroung Auguest 1. The plan would be a clockwise loop out Bowen trail, over Bowen Pass and the col between Fairview Mt. and Parika Pk. and back to the Bowen/Baker Trailhead on US.34 in RMNP on Baker Gulch trail.

I was just in the Rawah Wilderness (just north of the Never Summers) two weeks ago. Every lake above 10k was frozen over and there was a TON of snow. Most areas above 10k had 6-12 feet of snow. However, things were melting out super fast. See my thread "Rawah Conditions". Hope that helps!

You should be golden. There's still some snow in the Never Summers, but we were able to stay on track throughout our five day trip. The largest problem for us was the high number of downed trees - especially between Bowen Lake and Bowen Gulch.
