I have a general crampon question: I've heard that one main issue with learning to use crampons is their snagging and slicing your pants. Is this usually the front points or the secondary points at the front and sides?

Hi all - I'm a New Zealand-based mountaineer who is new to this forum. In NZ we have a '100 peaks challenge' that features 100 great routes. These range from very easy to very hard, from easily accessible to quite remote, from long climbs on our highest mountains to shorter climbs on smaller peaks. Any such list is of course highly subjective, but I think it helps get the ideas flowing.
I've wanted to climb Mt. Rainier for a long time, but never had the money to pay for a guide service. And all of their trips usually sell out before I could register.

I make trail maps that can be useful to hikers and mountaineers. Some of the areas I map have outstanding mountain scenery, but are located in areas where local regulations "frown" on independent, non-official mapmaking. To the detriment of the outdoor community, unfortunately.
