Lost: Camera on upper north ridge of Mt. Stuart

Actually it isn't lost, because I am almost certain I know its exact location. That however, doesn't do me much good.

The scenario:

This weekend a friend and I went and tackled the complete north ridge with ridiculously heavy packs.

Generally, after finishing the Gendarme (including the 5.8 crack), climbers traverse/rappel/down-climb into the gully to the west. Then ascend up past the fixed #3. At that point I went up and left to a large ...

I recently relocated to the area (near Mount Baker) from Montana and am wondering if anyone publishes trail maps (other than the USFS) for this area? Is there something similar to what Beartooth Publishing does, except for the Pacific Northwest?

We're planning on an extended stay in the Enchantments next summer. Hoping to climb Dragontail (Serpentine), Prusik (W. Ridge) and Stuart (CNR). Anybody have any info about such a trip. Doesn't seem too unreasonable for a 6 day trip?! Pain in the ass to get permits, so we figured we'd climb 3 classics while we're in there. Whatcha think???

Labor Day skiing?

How are late season conditions looking this season? Can anyone recommend an area? Muir snowfield, Baker, Adams, the Olympics? Willing to carry for a couple of hours or so. Is it even possible to ski on Labor Day this year?

Any info is greatly appreciated

Seattle in late October

Meeting up with some buddies in Seattle Oct 23-27, all 3 of us have plenty of backcountry experience, late 20's in good shape. Looking to hit a peak or 2, maybe even make a peak bagging weekend of it, however I'm the only one with any mountaineering/snow experience (class 3 and lower, plenty of top rope though). Figured everyone has to start somewhere, so we were wondering if there's anything feesible within a couple hour ...

Mount Adams in August? Mount Adams in August?

Hi all,

Living in Texas I have to jump on every chance I can to climb in the "real" mountains, so with a last-minute family gathering in Washington being planned for next week I was poking around to see if there were any mountains that I could conceivably climb on short notice and possibly solo. The South Spur of Adams looks like it might work, but also looks like it might be a real pain ...

New to Southern Oregon -- thielsen and bailey 7/26

I recently moved to Josephine County OR from Alabama. I started hiking for the first time last year and did GA TN NC southern VA NH southern Maine on the AT. Since moving here I've done a lot of day hikes.

This weekend I am thinking of a trip to Mt Thielsen and Bailey. Probably camp at Thielsen Meadows Friday night, summit Saturday, hike out via Mt Thielsen TH and hitch back to vehicle ...

Ptarmigan Traverse

Any one done the PTraverse this year? Ranger at Darrington says the road is under construction on the Suiattle River Road to the Downey Creek Campground, She said the old bridge is torn down. No one from the Ranger Station has been up there she said...??? Anyway, wondering about getting across the Creek. Last time we came out you could walk the bridge... seemed like fording it would be a challenge. Any way, the Marblemount ...
