Ptarmigan Traverse

Any one done the PTraverse this year? Ranger at Darrington says the road is under construction on the Suiattle River Road to the Downey Creek Campground, She said the old bridge is torn down. No one from the Ranger Station has been up there she said...??? Anyway, wondering about getting across the Creek. Last time we came out you could walk the bridge... seemed like fording it would be a challenge. Any way, the Marblemount ...

What glacier is that?

I’ve been going through my old slides and cannot remember where some of them were taken and would appreciate help.

I believe this is Rainier and most likely Cowlitz Glacier (with Adams in background? However, Adams’ top looks too sharp).

Perhaps someone would be able to identify it easily. Thanks a lot.

N Ridge Mt Baker in July

anyone have any thoughts on doing Baker N. Ridge in late July? I wanted to do it in May but the calendar got away from me. Worried about it being icy/sloppy/crappy/scary in late July. Has anyone done it this year?

She must have fallen and injured herself, or been stricken with a sudden illness, to disappear like this. Heaven forbid a wild animal or human assaulted her!

Best wishes for the search teams, hoping she's found and brought home to write about her adventure.

Liberty Ridge 06/08

Starting from White River trailhead on 06/08, 3 of us went up Liberty Ridge and summitted on 06/11, with a bivouac at 13,300 ft on 06/10 (we belayed-climbed too many ice pitches and ran out of daylight). We spent over 5 hours digging out the platform...

The climbing conditions were good, with snow and lots of ice on the face by Black Pyramid.

The bergschrund top out was a snow climb.

We spent the night ...

Eagle Cap Current Conditions?

I'm looking to do a backpacking trip (with summits if possible) starting 6/22. Does anybody know the current conditions of the Eagle Cap summit and the surrounding passes? Are these areas passable yet? I know it's the earlier end of the season, but I have to get into some mountains!

Thanks for any info,

Ryan

Current volcano cond's (esp. Jefferson & Adams Glaciers)?

Title pretty much sums it up. Would love an excuse to get up to Washington, & I've got a 2nd date with Jefferson on the way. Anybody know the conditions? Vehicle access? Snow line? Crevasses/'schrunds? Anybody interested in meeting up to do either? In case you're unfamiliar with the routes, both mostly steep snow to icefall/(from what I understand) mellow ice climbing; some easier rock climbing on volcanic choss (i.e. possible belays), too. I'd be ...

Hello, I'm looking to re-attempt Mt. Hood via the south side old chute route 7/5-7/7, I'm flying into Portland on 7/4 and I can climb the mountain at any day. I am from the Northeast and I have a lot of winter hiking experience and crampons/ice axe travel experience, also took glacier travel and crevasse rescue courses. I plan on bringing an axe and an ice tool and 30m rope. Looking for a partner with ...

Split a Shuttle? Ozette to Shi Shi

Hey Everyone - I am planning a through hike from Shi Shi Beach to Cape Alava and out at Ozette Lake later on in June. My wife and I have reserved a shuttle to take us from the Ozette Trailhead up to Shi Shi Trailhead at 11:00 am on Friday, June 27. The cost of the shuttle is $160, which can be split up to six ways. Is anyone doing a similar hike and interested ...
