Name of this peak near Wheeler in NM

I just returned from an attempt to run to the summit of Wheeler Peak in the Taos region of New Mexico. Didn't make it because I was wearing trail runners (no crampons or ice ax) and opted to turn around rather than cross a snow-covered slope with significant exposure.

My question: I stopped on top of a peak that my GPS said was 13,042 feet high. Not Walter or Wheeler, ...

3 hours from Yuma

My son is in the US Marine Corps, and currently stationed in Yuma Arizona. He is not able to get leave to come back home for the holidays, so my wife and I are planning to visit him in January or February. Yuma seems within 2-3 hours of a lot of places (San Diego to the west, Phoenix and Tucson to the east). What area makes sense to visit for 3-4 days of day trip ...

Mount Charleston in March - Conditions? Gear?

I'm heading to Vegas the end of March, and would like to hike Mount Charleston. Based on the reading I've done, I expect snow cover, but was hoping for some local insight if available. I've hiked snow-covered 14ers previously with microspikes - can I expect the snow conditions to be firm enough for microspikes, or should I come with snowshoes? I'm just looking for traction aid questions - I'll have cold weather insulation gear to ...

FOUND - Camera on Latir Peak, New Mexico

I found a nice camera/case on Latir Peak yesterday, 27 Aug 2017. I know from a summit log there was a group on a nearby mountain the day before so its likely someone from that group also was on Latir Peak. To claim your camera contact Fred: fredbrown585@gmail.com or text: 908-675-2295. Provide specifics on the camera and case to claim.

Old AZ Rock Climbing Guide

I found this guidebook at a used book store. It's a 1989 guidebook for Sedona and Oak Creek canyon. Has anyone heard of it or seen it before? It's in really good condition except for where part of the title has been rubbed off. It looks like it was done with a typewriter and all the maps/topos are hand written. Pretty cool actually....

Looking for partners. I'm in Snotsdale, so I can get out to most any where from Flag to Tucson, but prefer to climb in Sedona.

Ruby Dome Conditions Photo?

Anyone have a recent photo (last week or so) of Ruby Dome, or the Ruby Mountains in general? We're planning a trip via Griswold Lake for 4th of July and would like to get an idea what to expect.
