North-Carpathians regional discussion and conditions reports

by visentin » Tue Sep 28, 2010 7:31 am

Following the tragic accident of a SPer on Gerlach, inspired by the existing similar thread for Slovenia, and willing myself to be informed for a possible near future trip, I propose to start this one so that everyone can post or be informed about conditions in the Tatras, as well as neighbouring ranges.
As a start here is an interesting link with webcams on the Tatras:
http://www.holidayinfo.sk/pl-pl/summer/ ... iew=703794
Has anyone been in there lately ?

And melted as quickly.
Looks like we're going to have the first decent all-saints long week end in Tatras since 2005 !

As much as I appreciate your activity on this site I can't see any point in copying images that are publicly available elsewhere. If someone wants to find out about conditions they will probably go to another websites that are specifically dedicated to this subject (and that are your sources too). I think you can spare yourself this time-consuming job of "copy/paste" and spend the saved minutes on something more rewarding for you.

I partially agree. But nothing is better than a webcam image to give a better idea of the snow amounts. If these images are copyrighted I'll stop hotlinking them. However, anyway, I think they don't remain for ever on the slovak webcam server, soon or late their URL will be broken I guess. Not much fuss to do about...

Okay guys, I think this might be a solution. Also better for the folks who do not dwell the forums.

Great idea Peter, however I prefer the forum for several reasons. The forum allows more freedom about posting various type of info, and discussing. The object you created also doesn't allow visualizing well the webcam archive pictures which are often more informative than the current one (for example when foggy most of the day, but one shot at 7am shows the clear landscape)

Sure. The two complement each other. Btw, you have editor rights, and anyone who'd like to have, will be given.

Neither does the forum :) Plus, it's just two clicks away from the page. I will add a line about that.
