Once in a Blue Moon

Postby MarthaP » Wed Dec 30, 2009 2:31 am

Here's a very cool thing - you know what a blue moon is, right? The second full moon to fall within a calendar month?

This year's blue moon is on New Year's Eve. How awesome is that? Happens once every 19 years on average.

Where are you spending your Blue New?

Sleeping; I'll be in bed by 8PM. The next morning I get up early to head to Bowl of Fire. Nine of the last ten years, I've "hiked" on New Year's Day.

Howsabout something a little more esoteric, a tad more universal, perhaps a little, oh, I don't know, je ne sais quoi....

That's a cool statistic Martha. If it's clear I'm going to be doing some telescope work - or start a howling!

Some might say it heralds a new era. I've got big vibes about 2010, mostly good. Though I feel something epochal. My hunch is a big astronomical event. Watch this Space! Yipes.

Do you get that vibe, too? I think it's an astronomical event, but not necessarily in the cosmos.

I guess my opinion is tainted by all the great things that have landed in my world these past few months. Kinda feels like once the good stuff starts rolling, there's no stopping it.

Happy New Year, RM. Capture some of those shots on your tele. And definitely voice-over the howls. 8)

Yesterday I didn't notice about this topic and started a new one here. There will be a partial moon eclipse tonight. There are some links there
