Doug Scott on Everest 1975

On this day, 24th September 1975 Doug Scott became the first Brition to reach the summit of Mount Everest while a member of the British Southwest Face Expedition.

I think you need to give your fans an IQ test, Colin.

Mallory pushed to his death, taking a novice partner with him, having got nowhere near the summit.

Norton climbed to 8570m without O2 until it was clearly unsafe, wisely turned around and descended under his own power to live another day, establishing a major record that stood for over half a century.

Noel Odell did some great climbing too by going up to Mallory's last camp, back down and up again the following day!

Chef Holds Everest Record

Jangbu Sherpa is the co-head chef at Sherpa's Adventure Restaurant in Boulder, his customers may not realize that he has also summited Mount Everest 10 times without supplemental oxygen.

Runaway Boy Headed for Everest

A 14-year-old boy left his home in Indirapuram on Saturday evening, to fulfil his dream of climbing Mount Everest. He left a note for them and sneaked out of the house when they went to the market.

Alex Staniforth Interview

Alex Staniforth from the UK was heading for Mount Everest in 2014 when an avalanche ended his climb before it started. In 2015 Alex was at Camp 1 when another deadly avalanche struck the mountain.

Solo Everest Attempt Ends

Japanese alpinist Nobukazu Kuriki has announced that he is leaving Mount Everest and will return home, bringing an end to his latest attempt to summit the mountain solo and unsupported.

First Woman to Summit Everest has Died

The first woman to summit Mount Everest, Junko Tabei of Japan, died aged 77, media reported. Tabei died of peritoneal cancer on Thursday at a hospital in Saitama, north of Tokyo.
