Tioga Road Opening Date

Tioga Road opening in about 2 minutes.

Snow is expected this weekend above 6000'- I'd expect it to close again temporarily during that storm system.

Sonora opened at noon as well.

Anyone drive through lately with any pictures of conditions along the way? I know it was closed yesterday again for ice.

You want road conditions or mountain conditions? A week ago the road was completely free of snow since the gate was open. Yesterday the road was closed 5 miles west of 395...still closed today.

Does anyone have any idea if/when Tioga (or Sonora) will be re-opening?

NPW lists Tioga as temporarily closed...

Might be done for the season- though the next couple weeks looks clear so maybe it will melt out.

Mammoth got 5ft at 10k elevation. Not sure what Tioga got but there's likely a decent amount of snow up there.

No way Mammoth got 5 feet at 10K'. Maybe 2', at best, no matter what all the Mammoth Chamber of Commerce pages may say. Zero at 8500' doesn't match to that amount.

6" fell at 9k on Mammoth however a comment on the patrol weather page notes that the snow fell at the end of the storm so I suspect the top of the mt may have gotten a few wet feet.

Nonetheless, Sonora and Tioga are still closed...
