Broad Peak Summer 2017

by I man » Tue Sep 06, 2016 3:35 am

This is a continuation of the Dhualagiri thread.

My partner and I have decided to attempt Broad Peak next summer, 2017. Right now we are only 2 and looking to bring down the cost of the permit. The permit and liaison officer together is $8600 or so (this is totally separate from logistics).

We are open to potential additional partners or to other teams who want to share a permit. Contact for more information about outfitter and costs.

We are looking at leaving the USA on June 10th right now.

As of last year Broad Peak, K2 and G1 or G2 were going for around USD$5,300 per person for BC-only services, joining in with others. That includes transport, porters, permits, LO, and food on trek and at BC.

Yea, Damien, sounds about right....but as far as we know there is no one else for Broad Peak so far, at least no one want that wants to share a permit.

I'm sure someone will go. It's still a bit early for most to commit. And some might be put off by the visa and Sherpa issues that occurred this season.

You could try sending an open email to all of ATP (both of them), Jasmine, Blue Sky, Nazir etc and tell them you are two committed climbers looking to join a BP team, then let them work to get more clients. Note that if you do only end up with one or two teams on the mountain, with no Sherpa or good HAP support, you will have a tough time. Maybe be open to G1/G2 as well?
