Need info for Grossglockner?

by Mile Bosnjakovski » Mon Oct 16, 2006 8:15 am

I'm interested go there end of Octobmer so I would like to hear some excperiances from SP members in that period.

Especialy I would apreciate if somebody can write detailed description of the Normal Route : how hours on the Glacier, than walking, rock's, is there any fixed rope, whatever....?

I was searching for answers on SP Glossglockner page but I did'nt find them.

So thanks to all which will answer in advance.

Conditions

by Herb » Mon Oct 16, 2006 8:56 am

Hi Mile,

the conditions seem to be very good at the moment. I was in the Glockner region yesterday and took a picture of the Glockner-summit.
Check http://www.summitpost.org/image/235562/ ... tober.html

The forecast for the next couple of days is very well, too.
So - as long as there are no fresh snowfalls, the conditions should remain similar.

Regards,
Herbert

Hello Mile,

glad to know somebody from SP will be on Glockner at the end of the month. My friends and I are going to attempt either the Stadlgrat from the Stadl hutte or the normal way up depending on conditions from the 27-29th of October. So if you will be at the Stadl hutte get ready for a party of Czechs (9 of us)!! I will let you know of conditions if I manage to get any info.
See ya

For informations about the conditions on Stuedlgrat you should ask the local guides. If there are some icy passages on the plates, it could be very funny ;-)

The weather should be OK, at least on Friday, sunny. Saturday partly cloudy and a bit colder. Sunday looks like it shall start raining/snowing. We are heading out today and shall be there early tomorrow, may try and go for it in one day, just to be sure of the weather. Take care and see you on the mountain.

Maybe you'll write a trip report?
