I was there in October for trekking (not climbing unfortunately), if you have any logistical questions, I might help then.

Do you know where the nearest Heli base is and if so how to contact them? Or mabey how to contact the park?

did you hike in the area at the bottom of cerro torre? I would like to know what the terain at the bottom is like is it all Glacier is there dirt/sand areas, medium sized rocks scatterd about, or a boulder field? Thank you for your help I am trying to get a sense for what the landing area is like.

I won't be able to help you on that one, as we only hike on trails not on glaciers...

Please Don´t go by an helicopter.
This place is one of the most beautiful and peaceful in the world.
There, you can hear the sounds of the Patagonian winds, the glaciers, the rivers, the birds, etc without any artificial sound.
El Calafate(220 km from El Chalten) has a new an modern airport where you can land with an helicopter, and then there are buses to go to El Chalten, or you can rent a car.

I have to say that Poice is very right.

- From El Calafate to El Chalten : 4hrs by bus (1 or 2 each day).
- Then from El Chalten to Campamento de Agostini : 3 hrs hiking
- From Capamento de Agostini to the bottom of Cerro Torre (through the glacier) : a few hours...

My intentions are not to disturb the natural nature of the area or it's settings in any way. My intentions are to spend the first week surveying the base of cerro torre and the landing areas (for me to land not the heli). Then about 15mins surveying the top taking video and detailed stills from the heli during the 1st day of the 2nd week and on one day later that week wether permiting have the heli drop me off at the top and then leave. Then I will decend to the exit point if necesary, gear up and make my jump and leave the beautifull mountain just as I have found it. I am in the process of making a film detailing some of the most beautifull and remote exit points around the world. I am open to any advice about this location that is why I am here asking. Thanks

Your best bet is to get in touch with National Parks. I doubt you can get a helicopter anyway for many reasons - one being Cerro Torre is close to the Chilean border which is still in dispute south of Fitz Roy. Another is, apart from the military, I don´t know if any helicopters operate nearby anyway. You may need to climb the peak and then jumb which has, I am fairly sure, been done before.
