Chamonix Question

by roadtripper » Wed Mar 21, 2007 1:39 pm

Hey everyone,

I'm heading to the Alps in July for the first time for some climbing & hiking, and I can't seem to find the website address for the 'Refuge du Lac Blanc' to the northwest of Chamonix. Supposedly one exists, but I can't find it.

Can anybody help?

roadtripper,

I've been to that hut. Are you looking to hike to it or spend the night there? Send me a PM to remind me and I'll try to dig up some info for you later today. There's a nice view from that hut.

All the best,

Kurt

The hut exists. You can hike to it in one hour from the Index cable car station.

I should clarify....

I had a friend make a reservation for us in French for the hut already. I just need to mail them a deposit and I'm out of friends who speak french (since calling and asking for the mailing address or website would be much easier).

Thanks!

Call the OHM and ask them (in English) where to send the money. The phone number is on the website:

http://www.ohm-chamonix.com

Here's the number:

+33 (0) 4 50 53 22 08

If you're calling from the US, dial 011 0033 4 50 53 22 08

Note also that you must send a certified bank check...go to your bank to get one. Personal checks from the US are of no value to Europeans.

I guess you should dial 011 33 4 50 53 22 08 from the US.
