boarding in NZ

by noah » Wed May 30, 2007 9:44 am

Hi guys

thinking about heading to nz for a few days boarding would like suggestions about a good resort which will give me a mix of riding some lifts then hiking on to do a bit of free riding away from the crowds, not after anything hardcore as my axes are a bit rusty
thanks in advance for any suggestion.

At risk of sounding obvious, and bearing in mind that I don't know the first thing about snowboarding, I'd say the Remarkables skifield would fit the bill. There's some off-piste ground in amongst the peaks of the range. Above Lake Alta and around Double Cone. I'd be careful about venturing on to the western slopes of the range though. Very steep and very isolated. An injury over there would be a very lonely business.

If you have trouble getting accommodation in Queenstown, try Kingston or Cromwell.
