I have been chasing fares to Beijing and was aware of Malaysia airlines via Kuala Lumpa but direct is nicer. Qantas will prob have specials also. Atm they have Beijing ret $999 inc taxes but not out as far as my dates. They will release fares soon.

China Southern also has good fares but not that far out yet. They go via Ghanzhou to Beijing and also fly onto Urumqi and then to Kashgar. They also have a good fare to Kashgar and offer discounts for flying all sectors with them.

I was also considering via Islamabad but logistically may be to difficult and takes 4-5 days by bus

Are you talking about the west face route here, roger ? What are the guiding fees? What discounts are possible for a group etc etc.....

However the route shown is not the one I am going, it is to the right of the glacier as seen in the first link.

I'm another aussie. I live in Perth, which as you know is a long way from any hills. I'm hoping to go work in Canada in the next 12 months to be a bit closer to some hills. I don't come here often but I was looking for some information on Pumori.

I'm sure I remember seeing a page for the bluff. I guess it died due to a lack of maintenance. Come to think of it I think I may know of the person that did the original one. If I see him around I'll give him a bit of a rev up.

never saw this thread before. From Perth but live in Sydney.

So far this year have dragged my ass up Mt Aspiring, Island Peak and Mt Fuji. Im off to Cho Oyu in late August and planning Mt cook via Hooker glacier and back to aconcagua before the year is out.

Yeah mate, another Aussie here. Born and bred in Perth, WA.
I'm an avid trekker but not a mountaineer...but that's all going to change in the near future.

I spent a lot of last year trekking through the Pilbara, mostly for documentary film work and working with the Martu tribe elders. Good times.

Heading out to the Larapinta at the end of the year to do an End 2 Ender.

Hello all.

Long lost Australian living in Scotland, UK. I do lots of winter climbing in our highlands here and occaisionally get over to the French Alps.

Im off to Nepal in Oct 08 to climb mera and island peak (via Amphu Labtsa) with World Expeditions - anyone done this trip before?

Also, I only got into the winter stuff since moving over here, so never really thought about winter climbing in Oz. There is obviously plenty in NZ, but what about good winter snow/ice routes in Oz - are there many??
