any idea how much snow is left in Jotunheimen,
Hurrungane or in the Romsdal region ?

See Turtagro Webcam. Friend of ours climbed Galdhöppigen some weeks ago and there was a lot of snow.

Beim Galdhöppigen war das zwar ok (ist 'eh ein Schneehatscher) aber am
Storen waren wir abgeblitzt.

There are snow patches at 20 m in North Norway

Bin auch mal gespannt. Auf den Storen zu kommen wäre schon schön. Wir haben im Moment Norweger zu Besuch. Werde mal fragen, wie die die Lage einschätzen.

A lot of snow for this time of year. (More than in 2006 but about the same as in 2005)

Check out the pics in this thread for what the snow conditions were like 30. June in the area around Leirvassbu (just east of Hurrungane): http://www.fjellforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=9108

The snow is apparently firm/hard, but this might be due to a lot of cloudy weather in June. (No good weather in site yet). The snow conditions in Hurrungane are probably the same as in these pics. The skiing season is (almost) over, but the hiking season hasn't really started yet. Ridges and summits will most likely be free of snow.

You will need an iceaxe for almost all summits in western Jotunheimen this season. Crampons might also be needed.

Würde mich auch interessieren. Ich bin vom 21.07 - 05.08 in Norwegen.

Vielleicht sehen wir uns, Sebastian. Ich bin ab 21. Juli in Turtagro, Hurrungane.
