I'll be in Juneau in late May and will have from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. to leave the cruise ship and hike. Can anyone suggest a couple of nice peaks fairly close that I could bag in that time frame, assuming the weather is halfway cooperative? Mt. Juneau and Mt. Roberts ascend from the fiord of Gastineau Channel at downtown cruise ship dock. Mt. Roberts is closest, via tram or trail, within blocks. Mt. Juneau is accessed after 8-10 blocks uphill, thence up-canyon to right up Goldstream Creek. 3,000 ft. up to ridge to Juneau Icefield.

Lemon Creek is another canyon North. Mendenhall Glacier is a few miles out of town. Heintzelman Ridge above there.

Temsco Helicopters, LAB Flying, are more dramatic and memorable than pushing uphill through rainforest on trails. They fly over incredible canyons, past granite faces of Mendenhall Towers, Taku Towers, etc.

If you get to Haines or Skagway there are more incredible peaks rising straight up out of tidewater fiords. The ridgeline rim of Glacier Bay itself is right behind Haines, a great target for flightseeing charter or one-hour standard charter flight maybe. we have a HUGE Ice field Of peaks climbed and unclimbed. there is alot to climb but its all nar nar and you have to get good weather which is a problem here. look up a map of the Juneau Ice field it pretty awesome.
