Congratulations Alamkuh! I've read Damavand has side vents that occasionally blow sheep and climbers 30 meters into the air. I can't find confirmation in the TRs on SP. Is this true?

Considering this is posted in late November, is this post meant to say.." I want/will/wish to climb Damavand in February?

:D
I didn't see flying sheep nor climbers when I was there, but there are some "hot" areas where the smell of sulphur is quite strong. The only really weird thing I saw was a part of a mummified carcass of...something close to the summit.
It was discussed briefly here.

There was a famous Iranian guide, I've read, who was lost on the mountain with one or possibly two of his sons. Was that a result of the volcano or some other reason?

The brother of the this father is Mr. Reza Faramaspour, who is running the Mountain Association-house in the village of Rehne, and which has been on the summit of Damavand close to 300 times. Look him up if your around, he is a friendly and very funny guy, and ready to climb Damavand or any other peaks in Iran most any time.
