I'm very sorry to hear this. My condolences to the family and friends of the victims.

It appears that a man from the UK also died.
The same storm killed a 42-year-old British climber, Michael Freeman, who died of a hear attack just 2 metres from the mountain's summit. Source.

I hope and assume that none of them were part of the SP family. I saw in one of Brad's other posts that Divnamite, Renardo, Mtwhitney and Etower were on his team, but they are all from the US.

I also noticed that Windbreaker and Zenalpinist are down there as well. Safe travels to everyone.

This is Sad news feel better Brad.

We were just there and new a Germany fellow doing the Polish direct route. Was this persons name Stephan an Architect from Germany by any chance?

We climbed with this person last year and saw him again this year and had d lunch with him.

Forgive my inquiry during this sad time but I and my family are a bit worried now.

Hi everyone and thank you for all the sentiments and support. Unfortunately, the answer to your question bande is yes, the climber´s name was Stephan Geromin, an architech from Germany who was on Aconcagua last year. When I get back home I hope to write an article on our experiences together.

Hi Brad, sounds like a bad deal, hope you're ok.

I, and we, would appreciate hearing the details sooner rather than later if you feel up to it. There may be info that would benefit some of us.

Edited, to remove a question I shoulda asked via PM, thanks Brad.

Nothing of the sort brandon and I would never look to profit from anything like this. I´m flying out of Mendoza soon and will post something when I get home after having a chance to rest and gather my thoughts.

Hi Everyone:

I know some of you have been waiting to hear the details of my climb with Stefan Jeromin and I thank you for your patience. I finished a report this evening but promised to send a copy to Stefan's wife before submitting it to SP. After I hear back from her I'll post it and let you know.

I am so sad about this tragedy with Stefan. We all lost a very good friend.
Thanks to Brad for the last report. This will help us, but the gap which appears can never be refilled. GOIWO[/img]
