I thought I'd start this season's thread with a pic from a 3hr. rountrip jaunt Todd & Winslow Passey and I did on the South Ridge of Superior, via poleline.

This is Todd jogging back on the road to the Chickadee Lift parking where we started. Both of them having recently gotten back from Denali (Winslow got back the night before), they cruised the ridge in 1.5 hrs. and kindly waited for me at the top, reaching it in an hour and 50.

1.5 hours...gulp. wow. Also, look how green everything is. Nice.

Next weekend (July 10-11) the plan is to climb Sundial via South of Corner 5.7, and possibly 11th Hour 5.8. So far I believe Glenn, Levi, Levi's friend and myself are going. Anyone else is welcome, but you'll need to bring a partner. We'll be climbing in teams of 2. Plan is to hike up on Friday after work, camp at Lake Blanche, then climb Saturday.

If you're not interested in the technical climbing, you could also join up for the camping then take the 3rd class scramble up the west slopes on Saturday. It's a great scramble with stunning views.

Yeah, those guys are fast! And Yeah, Matt, its gorgeous up there right now. SO GREEN, and thank God its not raining any longer.

WEST SLABS WARNING!!!

My approach to the slabs was hindered briefly by having to navigate through an army of Ninja Thimbleberries that were extremely edible and very quick to jump in my mouth.

While I am posting: Has anyone been up to Lone Peak in the last little while? How is the cirque looking? Still snowy?

I was in the cirque on Saturday. It is still snowy, but I imagine it will melt pretty fast. You don't have to come down very far to get to dry ground, and it looked like a lot of good campsites were clear.

Awesome, until the last pitch when it started to rain. We were beginning to think we might have to bail, but the rain stopped and we were able to summit and descend to the base of Sundial about 10 minutes before the next wave of rain came through. Great adventure!

Awesome, thanks. I'm hoping to hit up Lone Peak on Saturday. I'm planning to start real early since it's supposed to be 100 F on saturday!

100 degrees? It's 105 here in AZ, and that's in the shade!

The grunge couloir has a rock section in it with a sizable moat now, in case anybody was wanting to do it. Still doable.
