Every now and again I come across a post and accidentally discover that there are more Aussies lurking on SP than I previously thought. Just thought it may be a good idea, for those who wish, to put your hand up on this thread to make yourself known and maybe build communications and plan trips, whatever.

hey DadnDave, how's things? good here, I finished my last exam yesterday, so I can rejoin the world !! wohoo. I'm going to organise some trips over the next few weekends (I expect to get out most weekends before I go), so I'll keep you posted. My apologies again for being pretty slack lately with emails and trips etc..

That also goes for any other SP'er's, if you are in the Bris-vegas area and are keen for some trips around the place give us a hoi!! The more the merrier.

Hey congratulations on that! It's the same here in Melbourne, everybody is finished at uni. What strikes me is the length of the summer holiday here: all the sports clubs close for a staggering 4 months! I was hoping I could join some clubs while I was here, but they all have such ridiculously long holidays! Lazy bastards, I can't sit on my ass for 4 months.. Only the climbing club is still active of course! Praise on them!

C'mon there noah, you been on them aguilles around Chamonix , you can't be too much of a slouch, You probably forgot more than I ever learned in the first place.

I'm heading for NZ december 4th, and I'm there for a full month..! Looking very much forward to it!

I didn't do the Albert Park circuit yet, although I'll definitely check it out still. Instead I went to Mt. Dandenong that weekend, and last weekend I went to Hanging Rock / Mt. Macedon, for some cycling. Mountains!! I loved every bit of it, it's good getting away from the city and all the crowds... The rain forest on the slopes on Dandenong was particularly nice, along with all the colored birds. I might go there tomorrow again, I've got to get myself a bit in shape for NZ, and Dandenong is a perfect training mountain

Maybe I could make a SP-page of Hanging Rock and Macedon. Although you're not allowed to climb at Hanging Rock it's still an interesting site, geologically speaking, and technically it's a mountain. On Mt. Macedon you can climb however + there's some nice hikes. Or maybe I'll go back there for some climbing and <i>then</i> write a page.. (Oh I mean a combined page btw, each of them alone would probably not justify a whole page) What do you think?

Sounds good rbi. Did you ever see the movie "Picnic at Hanging Rock? Yeah the Dandenongs are nice. Been there many times.In fact I did an audit at Upwey in the foothills just a few weeks ago. It's pity about the timing of your trip. I quite often go to Melbourne on business but I haven't been down there for about 8 weeks now and nothing scheduled this month either. We coulda had a beer or two otherwise. BTW if you want to track down potential climbing partners in Victoria, try Chockstone.org

Other good training 'hills' for day-tripping Melburnians are Mt Donna Buang, near Warburton or Mt Bullers West ridge (which is almost a scramble).

My other favourite training hills in Victoria would be the stair-case ridge on Mt bogong and Mt Feathertops bungalow spur - but these are a long day-trip from Melbourne

I am going to Muztagata (China) 15 July - 7 August
Just planning flight departure dates now Sydney to Beijing, maybe train Beijing to Urumqi then over to Kasgar or perhaps flight from Beijing to Urumqi, disembark then another flight to Kashgar.
Waiting for cheap Qantas flights who will be flying direct Beijing from 7 Jan 06 I believe, bound to be some specials coming up soon. None released just yet.
Any one else up for the trip?
