Great, a new fire.

by Guyzo » Tue Sep 22, 2009 7:53 pm

The Santa Ana winds returned today at 9.45 am.

At 10 am a fire started just outside of Fillmore.

Right now it's burning towards my house. :x

This wasn't a lighting strike.

We will see what happens, all of this burned up 3 years ago, not to much fuel.

It's time for armed citizens arson patrols.

Do you think if the investigators found the burned body of an arsonist at the point of origin, and he happenned to have a bullet through his chest, they would care?

You know, the minute they reported on the news this morning that there were Santa Anas and really low humidity, I knew it would just be a matter of time before some psycho went outside with his fire bomb. It's like ringing a dinner bell.

One just started out in Riverside..........

This one has grown in size very quickly.

The TV coverage is bogus, as usual, lots of misinformation..... they get all the directions and geography wrong.

They just showed a small herd of horses running away from the fire. The blond commented, "gee you would think people would take their horses to a safe place" .... dumb ass, those horses live on a 10,000 acre ranch.

We will see how this goes as the day progresses.

Yeah. For the last four days a fleet of these Erikson S64 bad boys have been working out of Monrovia Canyon (they tank up with water there) and struggling to contain the Station Fire. They take off full up and go right over my house, rattling the dishes. One every few minutes since sun up today.

From my front porch an hour ago...

Scary thought that if conditions get worse they could lose this fire again.

Right now there are 700+ guys up there in wicked terrain and 100 degree temps with fire suits on carrying huge loads digging lines to try to hold this thing from burning east and south.

I'm guessing it would be tough to get it in the right spot with a plane. Not sure though?

Carbo,
They have been using both, including the new 747 water bomber.

ksolem,
that shot looks like many my boss took from his house when this whole stupid fire started. He's up in Glendale at the foot of Mt Lukens. They were filling at Dukemejian Park.

Saw one of the two SUper Scoopers Saturday while I was out running. It was in the pattern to land at Van Nuys. Curiously his buddy wasn't around. They typically fly as a pair.

Over 400 acres, now.

It's just starting to get real close...... to me.

I am not worried at all, the brush is cleared.

If you know this area: it's now burning in Happy Camp and it's just starting to burn around the gravel mines located west of happy camp and east of the 23 Road, not 23 FWY....

I guess we will go buy some Pizzas and make some Ice Water for the crews.

Ventura County Fire boys are the best. They will get this one out.

I have a 100 yard wide, fire break just north of my home...

Ventura county fire requires it and they enforcethe law around here.

Last time it burned right up the break and jumped it in spots. When it jumps they hit it with helos and ground crews. Pretty amazing thing to watch. Last time it burned some of the pine trees across the street. We took the unburned pines out and went for a more "open view". Pine trees burn like matches....

well I gota go to the dentist, be back in a few hrs.
