Joe, those are used to open up the Gates. Don't get caught with those in your truck by the tools.

I know a place where the gate chain gets cut and replaced over and over. Somebody got smart and pulled the whole gate out of the ground, uprights and all and took it away.

I didn't know you were from Tennessee TOO!!!11111

Course in TN that gate woulda ended up on the ranch hehe.

Those cutters are junk. I had a pair like that, they broke cutting a chain link fence. I doubt they would cut a bolt without breaking or bending, unless it was an old rusted quarter inch spinner, they might cut one of those. Go out and get a pair of HK Porter cutters, those babies will chop.

Bolt chopping falls into two categories.

One: Pulling out old mank 1/4" (sometimes larger) bolts with the intention of replacing them to bring a route back to a safe (safe as it was on the FA) condition. These bolts usually come out easily with a tool like this:

Two: Pulling out or chopping new bolts because someone, in your opinion or the community opinion, comitted an ethical violation by placing them in the first place. This can be really hard, since modern bolts are often designed, like the Petzl Long Life, to be tamper proof.

In either case a tool like the one shown, made for cutting padlocks off gym lockers, will be useless.

That would work as a prevention or intervention tactic.

Chief is right, the j is for the simpson strong tie 6" wedge anchor. I hope you guys are bringing a brush and blow out the dust, then set that baby to at least 60 ft lbs installation torque. It will hold at least 2 houses.
