One of my plans for next summer is to once again head for Bezengi in the Caucasus. There are some very interesting climbs there and the one I'm the most interested in is a <a href=http://www.mountain.ru/eng/climb/2005/bezengi_travers/>long traverse of the whole Bezengi Wall.</a>
Will attempt it from the Russian side.

Did you plan to start with Lyalver or Shchara?

It's a hard one, as it's rated 5B (Russian grade). From what I was told it's not a desperate route in any sense and the most technical parts are not that long or hard. The Russian grading system also takes for example altitude, length of stay on the route etc. into account, so that's one of the explanations it rated that high.
My main concerns are getting stuck up there if the weather turns bad, finding suitable camp/bivaq spots, the sometimes huge corniches and rotten rock.
Also, to choose how much gear you want to bring is difficult I think.
That said, Shchara is not an easy peak, regardless of which route you choose.

we were trying to start from Shkhara. It is easier I think.
from Shkhara - you only lose the height instead of steady raise from Lyalver.
